Book Review: Excellent Introduction to Computer Games for Ages 2 & Up!

My 2 1/2 year old has played Reader Rabbit Toddler for about the last 6 months (a great first game; children don't have to click the mouse) but was ready to move on, so I installed Miss Spider's Tea Party. It took some practice for her to learn how to click the left button (required for this game) but now she can click on her name to start, play all 8 games, and exit the program on her own. She loves all of the games - even the 3 that were too hard at first (the beetles jumping across the water, the ant maze, and the moth & caterpillar obstacle course). This has gorgeous graphics and nice music.
I did the full install (WinXP) and have found that sometimes the graphics are jumpy, especially on the opening segment. However, with all of the little "movies" at the beginning of each section, you can hit the Esc key and bypass that part (they're very cute but not necessary each time you play).
Miss Spider is gentle, polite and friendly. With the help of her friends the butterflies, bees, beetles, ants, grasshoppers, moths, caterpillars, spiders and lightning bugs, children will play matching (sounds and pictures), memory, hide & seek, and maze games, while learning cause & effect and increasing hand-eye coordination and mouse skills (note: you can also use the arrow keys, which are especially helpful on the beetles water jumping game!).
My daughter really enjoys it. I highly recommend this game.
