Book Reviews of Mommy?Book Review: BEAUTIFUL Summary: 5 Stars
this is not a children's book. of course children will love it, but this is a piece of art and something special for those that love looking through sendak's window. this book is transcendant, joyful, and lovingly nostalgic. to see film icons as 'wild things' is pure magic! there's little story, but this is a visual narrative, sparking dark corners in the noodle. this reminds me of what mystified me in picture books as a kid. great art in this form is rare and it is a treat to know it can still happen!
Book Review: Best Pop up Book Summary: 5 Stars
This is a GREAT book. I sent it to my daughter-in-law for her birthday and she absolutly loved it. I was told my gift was a "home run plus", the best gift ever!" I could not believe the complexity and creativity put into each page. My son stated "this pop up book did things they didn't think could be done in a pop up". Great value and a real keeper!
Book Review: Extraordinary pop-ups. Summary: 5 Stars
How can you miss with the best children's book illustrator and one of the masters of paper engineering - great for childen, adults and all who love this genre plus those who have yet to discover the charm of this medium.
Book Review: Fun but Fragile Summary: 4 Stars
My grandson loves Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are", & so I bought him this book for Christmas. It is very cleverly done--I had to look twice to see that you could lift the flap on the right hand side of each page for an additional drawing of what the little guy did to each monster. There are lots of fun details to each drawing & the spinning mummy is awesome. The only reservation I have is that all those pop-outs, etc. are very fragile & might not last long in the hands of a small child. This is a good book for Mom to read with her child until he is a little older!
Book Review: Great Pop-up Book! Summary: 5 Stars
This is probably the greatest pop-up book I've ever seen. I just recently got this as a birthday gift from a friend and I really love it. It seems a little fragile though...not sure if I would let a kid play with it...they would rip it apart in a few minutes.
