Book Review: Much More Than Movement
Summary: 5 Stars
This book achieves the remarkable goal of being both practical and inspiring at the same time. Ms. Fisher offers clearly-written, easy-to-follow exercises and games that be deployed to spark the interest and encourage participation by seniors of almost any ability. Many of the movement routines use simple props, musical instruments and remembering games to draw sometimes reluctant seniors into the circle of participants. The exercises also are carefully designed to promote both the mental and physical well-being of all. Ms. Fisher's love for her work and the people she works with shines through everything she does and writes about, as does a spirtuality that is as genuiniely engaging and refreshing as it is ecumenical and down to earth, open to just those kind of experiences most seniors appreciate and like to share.
Another plus is the section on stress reduction techniques for caregivers. It presents a rare opportunity for readers to learn useful ways for helping themselves while helping others.
