Book Reviews of Mozart: A LifeBook Review: Excellent biography of Mozart Summary: 5 StarsSolomon paints a lucid picture of the life and music of Wolfgang Amadeus. So descriptive one will feel moved upon reading this biography and will appreciate the artist's music more as in Mozart's music are so deeply embedded his life.
Book Review: "It is the best Mozart biography yet written." Summary: 5 StarsFrom page one I was instantly wisked away to the late eighteenth century to observe the life of perhaps the greatest composer ever. From major events that changed his life forever to the smallest details of his day-to-day life, this book takes otherwise lifeless ink and paper and transforms it into a living, breathing accounting that will forever change your view of the "Amadeus" Mozart. My Highest Recommendations!
Book Review: surronds the life of the famous composer. Summary: 5 StarsThe book, Mozart:a life surronds the life of the famous composer. It starts out with his father,Leopold, to after his death. In the chapter entitled "Mozart In Love" it introduced me to a different Mozart. Over all, besides a few bad words and bawdy sentences,I enjoyed the book greatly. It is a great biography and gives you in dept information. Note*this book is'nt really appropiate for anyone under the age of 15, due some sex related subjects.
Book Review: Mozart's own life experience + immense talent = Great Music Summary: 4 StarsSome psychology, some musicology, some history and a bit of accounting combine to create a fascinating biography of the man, separating Mozart from the myths that have grown and survived about him. After reading the book, I immediately became re-acquainted with many Mozart compositions, listening to them with new insight and pleasure.
Book Review: Profound insight into the greatest of classical geniuses Summary: 5 StarsIf you ever wondered how Mozart -- using just the same materials and structures as Haydn -- could create works of excruciating beauty instead of merely works of elegant formality, you MUST read this book.
The book is organized thematically instead of strictly chronologically; reading it is like watching a beautiful opera about Mozart's life from the best seat in the house. The immense scholarly apparatus never clanks, wheezes, or whirrs -- yet you can go backstage at any time and see exactly what's supporting the stunning performance.
Without any psychobabble, Solomon leads you to the most profound psychological insights into Mozart's life and achievements. After he marshals all the facts, he reveals the most astonishing -- and eminently plausible -- insights that you slap your forehead and say "of course -- why didn't I see that!?"
Easily the best biography I have ever read.
