Book Reviews of Mrs. Lieutenant: A Sharon Gold Novel

Book Review: You must read Mrs. Lieutenant
Summary: 5 Stars

In these first few pages the author gives a truly intimate look into the lives of these four women dealing with the major change of having their husbands preparing for the Vietnam War. The author also gives a vivid portrayal or women in the 70's. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Book Review: Mrs Lieutenant
Summary: 4 Stars

Mrs Lieutenant by Phyllis Miller brought me into an aspect of life with which I have no experience. The wives of our military leaders are moved from the context of their home experience and simply through marriage are exposed to social, racial, religious and gender conflict they might never have experienced. The book opens as each wife is caught in new circumstances and I wondered how, where, why will they interact, communicate, collaborate and clash. Intriguing view into the spouse's side of military life. What is their role? What is their struggle? What is their surprise? What is their obligation to themselves and to their husband. A good read!!!

Book Review: A Great Beginning
Summary: 5 Stars

I truly enjoyed reading the beginning of the novel "Mrs. Lieutenant" by Phyllis Zimbler Miller!! By the end of the read, I was wanting for more. I was able, though, to get a good insight into the personalities of the main characters. Miller's writing has made me want to finish the book and find out what happens.

Book Review: A delicious read!
Summary: 5 Stars

Mrs. Lieutenant will take you back to the days of the Vietnam War. You'll follow four women struggling to adhere to the code for good wives provided by the Army's "Mrs. Lietenant" booklet. But those dictates is in conflict with their own growing doubts about the Vietnam War, and the stirrings of Feminism. This is luscious, engaging writing, rich with detail, and psychological verisimilitude. Once you've read the excerpt, you'll want to find out what happens in the rest of the book.

Book Review: I can't wait to read more
Summary: 5 Stars

Ms. Miller is such a good writer that your heart beats with anxiety and fear along with her characters. I was pulled into the army wives' experience -- something I have no reference for. I can't wait to read more -- I want to know what happens. Will their husbands die? Will they learn to cope with being an officer's wife?
