Book Reviews of My Big Girl Potty

Book Review: Gentle Introduction for Parent and Child
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book to my daughter for the first time last night. She pointed to all the pictures, and acknowledged the meaning/purpose of each. She's just starting to "train" and she is very reluctant to try at home. She's being "pushed" at preschool, and I think that this is adding to her reluctance. The reason I selected this book over countless others is because it has easy to read and understand copy and the illustrations are sweet without being "cartoony" or too grownup. I feel very sure that this book will help us both.

Book Review: Good book for the very first steps of potty training
Summary: 4 Stars

This book does a nice job of illustrating and explaining to kids the very first steps in using a potty - offering encouraging words about sitting on the potty and reassuring comments from the "Mommy" and "Daddy." There are several pages that talk about trying, but not succeeding, in using the potty, and reassuring kids that this is OK - I don't know, but the concept of being anxious about not getting any pee in the potty when trying seemed lost on my kids. For parents it might be frustrating, but my 28-month-old twins have never seemed to be conflicted or stressed when they have tried to use the potty and nothing came out. This book does not really stress the pride and excitement of leaving diapers behind all-together - something that I was really looking for to help my kids WANT to take the final steps in potty training. I will have to purchase additional books to get that message across, and wouldn't recommend this book if your kids are already somewhat familiar with sitting on the potty and trying to go to the bathroom.

Book Review: Good book, but she was more interested in the potty power dvd
Summary: 4 Stars

This book was pretty good. I liked the fact that the dad and the mom both got involved in the process of potty training. I liked the concept that it pointed out that it might take a while for you to "get it". That being said, my daughter wasn't engrossed in this book....I ordered it the same time I ordered "Potty Power" DVD--and she was so obsessed with the "Potty Power" DVD that she wasn't that interested in the book.

The book is worth a try though, IMO.

Book Review: Good, especially for two-parent family
Summary: 5 Stars

We really like this book. My husband especially likes it because both mom and dad are involved in potty training, which isn't the case in all books. Highly recommend.

Book Review: Granddaughter Loves It!
Summary: 4 Stars

20 month old granddaughter really likes to look at this book. Hopefully, it will aid in future potty training.
