Book Review: A biography with a difference

This is a very interesting book and difficult to describe. Just read it for yourself and find out!
The writer left her home in Germany when only nine, firstly for London and then on to America. It is difficult to imagine what it must be like to be driven from a comfortable, prosperous home and travel with only what could be carried to a country where everything, including the language, was foreign and unknown. By the end of the book we find that Lilian eventually made a success of her life, becoming an expert on Italian greyhounds, and how she enjoyed her contacts with the San Franciso Opera.
A timely reminder of how the influences and effects of Hitlerism extended far beyond the boundaries of Germany. This is not a story of the horror of wars, but how one young girl made a new life for herself in America. I recommend it.
