Book Reviews of My Sister's Keeper: A NovelBook Review: A beautiful and emotional book Summary: 5 StarsI loved this book. I couldnt put it down, and it was very emotional. The chapters switch from being narrated by different characters in the story so you see all points of view. You go from agreeing with the character of Anna, that she should not be forced to go through so much pain and medical danger when her sister doesnt really want to keep going on anymore, to changing your mind when the mothers chapter comes around, thinking you would do anything to save your childs life. Both my friend and I loved it - but beware, if you have an emotional bone in your body you will cry your eyes out in a couple of parts - DO NOT READ THE END OF THE BOOK ON THE TRAIN ON YOUR DAILY COMMUTE!!! This is a great book - read it.
Book Review: I was very excited to read this book. Summary: 2 StarsI was very excited to read this book. The topic is one that greatly interests me. It deals with an issue that is close to my heart and raises questions that need to be asked and answered! I'm sorry to say though that the writing is very poor. Not only in style - romance novelish - but also in that Picoult tells the reader what to feel and think instead of inviting them to make up their own minds. And then she does the same to her characters. Giving them easy ways out. They do not have to deal with the issues. And therefor nor does she as a writer. I feel cheated.
Book Review: My Sister's Keeper Summary: 5 StarsI normally read detective thrillers and when my daughter invited me to read this book I was a bit skeptical as it would not have been my choice but am I glad I read it. What a wonderfully, interesting book it was. It is written from every character's perspective so each chapter is a little story of it's own. Every page was interesting and I could not put it down. Jodi Picoult can sure tell a story. The ending was not what I expected so therefore there was a feeling of suspense all the way through. My husband enjoyed it also as did my teen-age granddaughter so it is a book for everyone. I can't wait to read more of Jodi Picoult's novels.
Book Review: My Sister's Keeper Summary: 5 StarsI have just finished reading this book - I couldn't put it down. It was beautifully written and has encouraged me to read other books by this author. Due to the excellent characters presented in a very human way it is impossible not to empathise with each of them and therefore you feel torn between the best interests of all involved. The ending keeps you guessing and have tissues ready as this is a bit of a tearjerker. It is definately a book I will pass on to all my friends as it deals sensitively with a difficult and emotive issue. A must read!
Book Review: An amazing read Summary: 5 StarsI picked up this book expecting not to enjoy it but after the 1st chapter I was hooked. It is beautifully written from the views of all the family members and you are there routing for Anna but at the same time understanding the thoughts and feeling of the rest of the family. Every step of the way it makes you sit and think - 'what would I do' and 'there but for the grace of God'. Just when you think it can't get any better there's the BIGGEST twist ever and you never see it coming, an excellent read, 5 stars does not give it justice, pick it up read it and enjoy but do have a pack of tissues as it takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions.
