Book Reviews of My Sister's Keeper: A Novel

Book Review: Heartbreakingly beautiful
Summary: 5 Stars

I decided to read this after seeing the review on Richard and Judy and it is one of the best books I have ever read. It is so close to the bone and I do not know what I would do if I ever had the misfortune to be in the same situation. I cried for ages when I finished it and even started crying again when someone asked me about it! Please read his book, as it will really open your eyes and make you think and I believe thats the best thing a book can do.

Book Review: what a good read!
Summary: 5 Stars

The cover and the title drew me to this book and I was not disappointed. The quality of the writing is superb and to be so moved by so many characters in one book is a feat in itself.
I have passed it on to friends and would encourage anyone to read it. It certainly makes you ask yourself some interesting questions about what you would do in similar situations.

Book Review: Moral meanings hidden beneath an amazing story
Summary: 5 Stars

I picked this up in a 3 for 2 deal. I read the first 30 pages in the bookshop and carried on reading thoroughout the rest of my day and not allowing myself to put it down.

I loved the story, i loved the bravery and most of all i loved the fact that this story and its background was shown from every perspective. In some (if not most) stories this change of characters can prove impossible to keep up with, but in this story it was completely the opposite.

The twist in this novel i really did not expect and I like many readers was left in tears with it. It's a truly amazing story and the issue is dealt with sensitivity and open-mindedness. A refreshing change.

I recommend this book to anyone (actually i have recommeded it to everyone i know) because it's a beautiful story if nothing else.

Book Review: Amazing
Summary: 5 Stars

My mum bought this book for herself, and on a whim I picked it up and started reading. And could not stop. I knew this book would make me cry so that did not suprise me. What DID suprise me was the twist that suddenly got to me and left me crying for nearly half an hour. I have no children, but I have a sister and friends as close as sisters so I could identify with the relationship of Anna and Kate.
The themes of the story are touchy to say the least, but Piccoult writes with such a raw honesty and doesn't shirk away from the truly harrowing choices made by every character in the book that your emotions will feel battered by the epilogue.
All in all, a genuinely terrific read for anyone who's ever had a child, brother, sister, father, mother or lover.

Book Review: My Sister's Keeper
Summary: 4 Stars

Fantastic idea for a story which raises all sorts of moral questions. I liked the way the book looked at the dilemma's from different persepctives. Clearly there are no right and wrong answers. The book is compelling and leaves you with a sense of loss when you have finished it. My only criticisms are why did Campbell and Julia have to have a past and was it necessary for Sara to represent herself? A good book though that will appeal to a wide reader range.
