Book Review: A Very Lovely Bible
Summary: 5 Stars
This bible is perfect for me in many ways. First of all, readability. The font size (12 Pt.) is just right, not too small nor too large. Second, the NIV is an understandable version. I had always been a KJV reader, and just happened on the NIV, and found it to be a lot easier for me to comprehend.
This bible is quite simply beautiful. If the cover is not genuine leather (it doesn't say anywhere), then it is a very good imitation, put together quite beautifully. The pages are thick enough to show very little of the printing through from other pages, yet thin enough to keep the book from being huge. The edges of the pages are gold, and there is a built in ribbon book mark.
Prior to each chapter, there is a historical summary (who wrote the book, when, etc.). There are ongoing references throughout to other books of the bible, and also to alternate translations for certain words or phrases. The back of the bible contains ancient maps of the area of Israel and of the apostles' mission travels. I find these quite interesting.
All in all, this is a beautiful bible, especially for the price. I am enjoying it, and I would recommend it for anyone who would like an easy to read copy of the NIV version of the Holy Bible.
