Book Reviews of Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way: Revised EditionBook Review: needs updated pictures, but timeless information Summary: 5 StarsI am still reading this book and preparing for delivery in a few months, but it has taught me so much more than some of the other books out there. Even some things that I didn't learn in nursing school!! It has good exercises and coping methods, and I have all my faith that it will help guide me though a drug free labor!
Book Review: The BIBLE book of natural childbirth Summary: 5 Starsthis is the BEST book i have read about natural drug free childbirth...i am having my 3rd baby anyday day now and we are having another homebirth using the Bradley drug free method. i HIGHLY recommend this book to homebirthers and for drug free hospital births.
Book Review: Great for natural childbirth confidence boosting Summary: 4 StarsThis book is a fantastic tool for mothers considering natural childbirth. There are a few flaws - the reason for the 4 rather than 5 star review: the medical practices described in the book are a bit outdated for one, and the dietary information is also a bit aged. If you're strictly looking for a book to help build your confidence about going unmedicated, this one is 5-star, awesome, can't be beat. It thoroughly describes the stages of childbirth, the emotional and physical signposts, and gives you so much information on what to expect. Lists great exercises for preparing for the big day - relaxation exercises as well as physical stretches and movements to prepare your body. If you're not the kind of person who likes sitting through lengthy (and expensive) classes, and learn better from independent reading and study, this book in combination with updated information from [...] or [...] on nutrition and current medical practices will be all you need to go into this wonderful experience confident and unafraid.
Book Review: Best Natural Birthing Book Around! Summary: 5 StarsMy doula gave me this book as a baby shower present and it's amazing. Despite the my friend's and complete stranger's opinions on natural birth, my husband and I have decide to have a natural birth. This book is right to the point, easy to understand, has great coaching advise, and it's not too detailed or long. The pictures really help (they may be a little dated, but natural birth is not a new concept). I highly recommend this to all new parents that need support and encouragement for having a natural birth.
Book Review: An excellent overview of the most popular natural childbirth method, but... Summary: 4 StarsA lucid explanation of childbirth and the Bradley Method, an approach to childbirth whose primary tenet is that a normal birth is an unmedicated one with minimal interference. Like many Bradley texts, its photographs and an underlying suspicion of contemporary obstetrical practice show it to be slightly dated and biased, but the text could not have been more gratifyingly clear. I highly recommend it to anyone considering natural childbirth. Once we have the baby, I'll write an updated opinion. ;)
UPDATE (1/19/08): Everything we gained from having read this book served as well in childbirth. I recommend the book even more highly now that we've had the baby.
