Book Review: A lesson on style

I had to give this book five stars because of the outstandingly high standard of the the author's works, but although beginners can gain a lot from it, it is definitely for the intermediate-advanced sewer who is already into landscape quilting and wants to explore more possibilities.
The aim of the book seems to be not so much to give instructions but to make you reflect on the various possibilities that exist when making a landscape quilt - on expressing yourself and finding your own style, and the choices which determine this. At the same time there is a lot of advice given on techniques.
The chapters on trees and birds are simply wonderful, with beautiful photographs of the author's stunning quilts. There is also a chapter on quilts which portray rather enigmatic, romantic female figures in woodland surroundings, very unusual and original.
This is, as the bookcover states, a glimpse into the world of the author.
