Book Reviews of Nature of Desire: Mirror of My SoulBook Review: 5 blue ribbon Romance Junkies review Summary: 5 StarsSome stories are best told in stages - allowing the reader time to absorb the richness of the characters and the events that will be imbedded in our memories. Tyler and Marguerite's story is just too intense to be held between the pages of one book. These Dommes commanded two books, and they were absolutely right in doing so. MIRROR OF MY SOUL is the continuation of Tyler and Marguerite's story from ICE QUEEN.
Have you ever heard that old adage "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger?" Marguerite is living proof of that statement. Having endured years of abuse as a child, in order to survive and remain sane she insists on control and thrives on the simplicity of routines - whether it's yoga or a tea ceremony. Until Tyler forced his way into her life, she'd been able to curb the need to touch people beyond normal social contact
Tyler has skeletons in his closet as well, but nowhere near as earth shattering as what he soon learns about Marguerite's past. Tyler's cracked through her icy exterior, discovered the vulnerable woman beneath, and he is determined to never let her get away from him. He's seen the scars on her body, but the emotional ones have him worried.
Tied down, and at Marguerite's mercy, Tyler proves himself to be her Dominant. It's a fact that Marguerite bitterly fought against within her own mind and Tyler had been forced to prove to her the only way that he knew how - by letting her try to dominate him. Even knowing the truth, she still tries pushing Tyler away, to keep him at an emotional distance. Of course, he's not going to allow her the time to build up the mental barrier to keep him out. Because she fled The Zone without him, Tyler decided to wait at her home for her to return to have an honest discussion about their relationship. She'd never be able to deny him and Tyler has learned to read her body language enough to know that while she desperately wants him, she won't allow herself to admit to this weakness. It's while he's alone in her bedroom, exploring her personal space, that he comes across a discovery that horrifies and enrages him - in order to find sexual satisfaction, Marguerite engages in autoerotic asphyxiation. A dangerous practice that could result in her death if done improperly. Petrified for her, Tyler demands that she quit doing this to herself and prays that she will obey him. If he's going to save his `Angel' before she self destructs, he's going to need answers and for that, he will have to delve into Marguerite's past. Will he be strong enough to withstand hearing about the horror that Marguerite had endured?
MIRROR OF MY SOUL has touched me in such a way that I know I'll never forget the characters. The events of Marguerite's life and the way they have molded her into this powerful presence in the universe are both horrifying and fascinating. Despite everything, Marguerite made herself a better person, a protector of others, and genuinely cares about the well being of those around her. Tyler's been through his own share of horrifying events and that alone helps him to understand some of what Marguerite's going through but it's not enough and he does seek help when needed. It takes a strong man to admit when he needs help with the woman he loves and he does it so openly and honestly that he's perfect for Marguerite. On a more personal note, I'm thrilled that Ms. Hill spent some time mentioning the dangers of autoerotic asphyxiation. It's not commonly talked about, or spoken of only in whispers but it's a practice that does kill and definitely needed to be addressed! Kudos Ms. Hill, you did a beautiful job fulfilling my every expectation with MIRROR OF MY SOUL, sequel to ICE QUEEN and I hope to see even more books in this series.
