Book Reviews of NeuromancerBook Review: A Mind Drug Summary: 5 Stars
Having never really read much Sci-Fi before, this was a totally new experience! The characterisation and writing style were excellent and the story took my mind on a rollercoaster trip to the furthest reaches of the universe (and my imagination!)What I really appreciated was that as far removed as it was from everyday reality, Gibson kept it real and plausible throughout to such an extent that one feels as if one has experienced a prophetic glimpse of the REAL future. This book has opened up a new door for me and I can't wait for my next trip into cyberland.
Book Review: A Mindwarping Novel of Ingenuity Summary: 5 Stars
This story takes place in the next stage of humanities existence. The computer nueral interface opens up an entire world ripe for the action. Gibson is God. The struggle between man and data leaves the reader asking, Do we have a chance? Any possibility of surviving the age which allows the mind to set the limits. This book is stunning and will leave the reader wanting a world in which the opponents exist only in the mind.
Book Review: A Sci-Fi Literary Treasure! Summary: 5 Stars
In short, NEUROMANCER is an awe-inspiring masterpiece. It is basically a conlict between a cool calculating AI and the best cyberjockey around. All in all the 2001 of cyberspace.
Book Review: A bit confusing Summary: 3 Stars
I thought Neuromancer was interesting, and that's why I didn't give up on this book after the first 20 pages or so. I have to admit though, that for a good share of this book I had no clue what was going on. The style was definitely not something I enjoy--a bit too high tech for me. The story would have been better for me if it had been written in a different style.
Book Review: A case of the "Emperor's VIRTUAL new clothes" Summary: 1 Stars
If you need an indicator of how overrated Gibson and this book are, you only need to look down this list of reviews. Someone even says Gibson is "Perhaps the best 20th century writer!" Style has truly triumphed over substance. If you demand a bit more from a book than cliches, poor plotting and characterisation, try something else
