Book Review: Harry Barnett returns.

This is I am afraid to say a huge disapointment from my favourite author.
The idea is a good one. Harry returns to England to bury his mother only to find two RAF comrades from 50 years ago waiting for him. A reunion has been arranged in the same Scottish castle that they were billitted in all those years ago. Soon various old comrades start dying and Harry and his old pal Barry are implicated.
Sadly for this reader the Harry and Barry double act with its annoying banter becomes tedious as they lurch from one pub to the next trying to find answers to their predicament.
All the usual Goddard hallmarks are missing, the sudden twists, the rich characterisation and intricate plotting and wonderful detail.
Last years excellent 'Sight Unseen' deserved a sequel but this is a tired effort from one of our usually most consistant of thriller writers.
