Book Reviews of Neverwhere

Book Review: A new world of adventure
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the most unusually written books I've read. While the only other Gaiman-touched thing I've read was Good Omens, I know he does a lot of comic books. This was apparently the first real book he wrote. It strikes me as being written much like a comic book, with a great deal of space between the words. What I mean is, in a comic book the "script" is written around the pictures. The words in the comic tell only part of the story. Neverwhere is written the same way. But that's okay, because though the pictures aren't drawn for you, he still left enough room for you to see them in your head. It is a geat read.

Highly Recommended is The Price of Immortality.... It is a MUST READ for any fantasy fan

Book Review: A reality
Summary: 3 Stars

___

It's hard to rate books. I am giving 3 (and a half) stars to this book but it's soooo far away from, say, Marquez' "Hundred years of solitude". I wish there were more than 5 stars to choose from. Anyway...

I read the book some time ago and liked it but also, immediately forgot about it. Reading it, I was constantly reminded that this was not a surreal world but rather a parralel underground universe that, sadly, does exist. (Think of children in Romania living in sewers). A good metaphor of our society - people fallen "through the cracks" and abandoned on the streets... ... A reality 'everwhere'... ...

Book Review: A simply amazing work of art
Summary: 5 Stars

There is only one word I can use to describe this book: AMAZING. Neil Gaiman has truly won me over with this book. Not only is it beautifully written, but it will keep your eyes glued to each page. It combines suspense, mystery, and a bit of fantasy to create a beautiful novel. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good read.

Book Review: A spectacular journey.
Summary: 5 Stars

I see that 437 others have reviewed this, so I'll leave the description and reasoning to them and just add my five stars and my encouragement. This book made me look at the subways with much different, much fonder eyes... and it made me look harder at the world, too. It's the sort of book that does that to you. It's the BEST kind of book, that can make you see very normal, every-day things in such a new and exciting light.

Book Review: A surreal and powerful fairtale!
Summary: 5 Stars

Neil Gaiman possesses an amazing skill, an enviable skill. The ability to tell a great story. As I write this I as I am 17 years old and have hopes to someday become a film maker. I sincerely hope that If I ever make it that far, I'll be able to someday weave tales half as wonderful and share them with others as he his shared his with us. Thank you Mr. Gaiman! For reminding us what a wonderful thing fiction can be.
