Book Reviews of Night Fall

Book Review: A Great Disappointment
Summary: 1 Stars

I've long been a Nelson DeMille fan but, after Night Fall, will probably not invest any more time only to greatly disappointed in the lack of an ending. Mr. DeMille credits his son with this travesty -- the young man probably deserves better. I would have felt much better if the last pages had just been ripped out and my imagination had taken over. It is truly a shame to see a story with such potential suddenly drop off a cliff (not to be confused with "cliff hanger" which does have some merit).

Book Review: A M*U*S*T*
Summary: 5 Stars

Save this book for a long weekend, because if you are anything like me you will not want to put it down. This book had be completely enthralled from the 3rd page through the last. It was an amazing, heart pounding look at the TWA 800 "accident" five years later. I read this book in one day! I usually read bubblegum, 20-something chick lit; but my husband insisted (for the entire month!) that I should pick it up and give it ten pages and I'd be hooked. I was through the end! READ IT!!!

Book Review: A MUST read! Could be DeMille's best.
Summary: 5 Stars

On July 17, 1996 a devastating tragedy occurs...TWA Flight 800 explodes in the air, killing all aboard. On a deserted beach in Long Island Bud Mitchell and Jill Winslow are making love, and videotaping themselves, when the plane explodes. Bud and Jill see the flash across the sky and then the burst of flames, but they can't tell anyone what they saw because they married to other people and have to keep their affair a secret.

Five years later, the crash has been officially declared a mechanical failure, but ex-NYPD detective John Corey thinks differently. John, now working for the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force, decides to help his wife Kate, who happens to also be his task force partner, investigate the crash.

Going against the warnings of their superiors, John and Kate re-open the case and discover a crucial piece of evidence. As the two uncover more shocking information they are thrust into a hunt that will have them exposing a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels, and the truth could have unimaginable consequences for America.

Be prepared to stay up all night with `Night Fall.' From it's explosive opening to the heart-stopping climax this novel thrills. Packed with strong characters and surprising plot twists this powerful novel entertains with an all-too-plausible story-line. Nelson DeMille has a long list of excellent novels to his credit, but `Night Fall' may be his best.

Sharp, intelligent and packed with action `Night Fall' is a MUST read and will dominate the top spot on all the bestseller lists.

Book Review: A New Fan
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first book by Nelson DeMille I have ever read--and what a book it is! From the first riveting page until the final echo, this book gripped me like few others have done. I am not usually a fan of government conspiracies or politics but "Night Fall" is different. It sweeps you along with the action, the mystery, and the inevitable conclusion which I found breathtaking.
Mr. DeMille, you have a brand new fan.

Book Review: A Terrific Thriller
Summary: 5 Stars

Taking on a conspiracy theory revolving around the crash of Flight 800 in 1996, Night Fall is a terrific thriller. The main character, John Corey from "The Lions Game" continues to be a tough, gutsy, brilliant and an amusing foil to the bad guys. At the same time, DeMille has a way of making his female characters equally tough and also sultry and witty. A grim cloud of foreshadowing runs through the plot causing an added dimension to the tension that builds. I won't spoil Nightfall for those who have not read the book by rehashing the plot, but I will say that it leads to a shocking, disturbing, and eerie ending that has stayed in my head since I finished the book last night.
