Book Reviews of Night MagicBook Review: A KEEPER Summary: 5 Stars
Read this book when it first came out and have picked it up and reread it many times since. A Phantom of the Opera story line with a happy ending for the Phantom after many problems. The secondary characters are great as is their story line. You won't want to put it down till you finish the book.
Book Review: A BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY Summary: 5 Stars
I have read this book at least 5 times and it always seems romantic. A cross between Phantom of the Opera and Beauty and the Beast, it shows that anyone can overcome their greatest fears and fulfill their biggest dreams. The story is well written and easy to get involved in. I lended this book to everyone in my family. It is a must read for hopeless romantics.
Book Review: A Huge Dissapointment Summary: 2 Stars
When I read the synopsis and saw both Beauty and the Beast and the Phantom of the Opera, I thought it would be perfect for me and settled down for a good cry. I was so wrong! I could tell by the 2nd chapter it wasn't quite there, and the whole book left me pretty much void of emotion except for dissapointment. I felt sympathy for Erik about once in the book and grew tired very fast of the lengthy speeches made. Read it if you want but don't expect much.
Book Review: A disfigured man, a sweet young woman, a marvelous romance. Summary: 5 Stars
I've read this novel at least 6 times. How can one not fall head over heels in love with dear, anguished, brilliant, reclusive Erik--surely one of the most compelling protagonists in romantic fiction? How can one not share the joy and happiness that he finds with Marisa?Interestingly, there is a secondary plotline, another romance, that is also touching and satisfying. Another wounded man, another loving and nurturing woman (older this time). This is an update of Phantom of the Opera--for all those Beauty/Beast-Phantom/Christine aficionados--and it works beautifully. Erik proves that beauty is something that goes far beyond the superficial. Marisa shows that true love sees beyond the exterior. Do yourself a favor: Read this novel. : ) *Mir*
Book Review: A good read, but not quite good enough. Summary: 3 Stars
Overall I had no problems getting through the book and I was never bored at any point in the story. Though since I am a huge Phantom of the Opera phan, this story just couldn't compare with the story written by Leroux and Susan Kay. I felt Marisa was a bit too whiny and practically near nervous break down the entire book, and Erik was a weak sap..he posessed none of the power and majesty a character like Erik should have.
