Book Reviews of Night Probe!Book Review: Night Probe was ok Summary: 3 Stars
I thought that this book was a little dragged out in parts. Also in several parts of the book the events jumped around more than usual to the point of being confusing.
Book Review: Not Classic Cussler Summary: 1 Stars
Couldn't even finish this book. Dirk Pitt is basically an unknown character thru half the book. Early Cussler; development period. Don't recommend if your love the complexity, adventure and characters of Pitt and Al.
Book Review: Oh, North America! My home and native land! Summary: 5 Stars
Ok while the basis of this North America Treaty (spoiler------>) of the United States being "sold" Canada by the United Kingdom (not quite sure that's possible since Canada was not really a "colony" per se, it was long since federated by 1914) was a little far-fetched, it was still a good and amusing novel. Good intrigue with the Russians (the Russians supporting a communist inspired secession movement in Quebec at the time to gain a toe hold in North America and break up America's biggest trade partner is probably a little more plausible), however, even if the spy Britain sends to bust up the party is a bit too much like James Bond. I still give Night Probe 5 stars. Not as good as "Atlantis Found" but still a good one.
Book Review: Ok, but I've seen better Clive Cussler novels.(spoilers) Summary: 4 Stars
My dad has the whole Dirk Pitt collection, and this was the book he started me off with. I must say he made a bad choice. Ok this is a spoiler so skip to the next paragraph if you don't want to know. The North American Treaty is all about Britain selling Canada to America. I'm Canadian, and I found this sort of offensive. Clive Cussler is an American (if you haven't figured that out)and he made the Canadians look like some pawn in a game of Chess. But then again I guess Canada isn't as powerful as the U.S. but we still have done lots of stuff, and we are strong allies with the U.S.A. and Britian. SO if you're a proud canadian this book isn't for you. Still it's a good novel, and I would read it again. Dirk Pitt was his usual style...cool, relaxed in front of danger, friendly, cold, and caculating.
Book Review: One of Clive's best. Summary: 5 Stars
If you're new to Dirk Pitt books, let this one be your first. The two apparently separate stories weave together to the climatic end. One of his best.
