Book Reviews of No Jumping on the BedBook Review: Frequently requested Summary: 4 StarsThis is a basic cumulative tale. Walter finally jumps so high he falls through the floor, and as he goes on more and more residents of his apartment building fall with him, down and down in a rhyming fashion.
Eventually Walter wakes up - just in time for his upstairs neighbor to fall on top of him.
The absurdly calm quips everybody makes as the whole building falls in on top of them are worth reading all by themselves.
I will note that this is a very long, pretty involved book. It might not be suited for very young children, under the age of four or so.
Book Review: Two boys' review: Cute idea quickly becomes silly story Summary: 1 StarsWhile the concept was interesting and the problem is real -- jumping on the bed (Our two boys bounce every chance they get.) -- the story quickly devolves into jumbled rhymes without a clear storyline. This isn't Dr. Suess quality. The rhymes are leaden and fall faster than the kid though his apartment floors. For example, "Hattie, Battie, Fattie..."
Look elsewhere for a good bedtime book; I have several other kids books I recommend on Amazon as well as a couple lists specifically for young readers.
Book Review: A TImeless Book Summary: 5 StarsNo Jumping On the Bed is one of those timeless books that children love to hear over and over again. Our high school students usually pick it as a favorite to read to the elementary children during Love of Reading Week each year.
Book Review: No Jumping on the Bed! Summary: 4 StarsISBN 0803700385 - Pretty much everyone who was ever a kid has jumped on a bed, and pretty much everyone who's ever been a parent has told them to stop. Then there are those parents who just can't resist pointing out potential consequences, like "One day it'll crash right through the floor."
That's what Walter's father told him. He was wrong - it happened one NIGHT, not one day. In fact, the very night he said it could happen it did. Walter went straight down into Miss Hattie's dining room - then took her along as he crashed through floor after floor, picking up neighbors as they fell, until they reached the basement, where... nah, read it yourself.
Funny, but not exactly flowing text. The illustrations are very nice, cartoonish in the way all of Arnold's books are. Kids will enjoy finding out, the easy way, what could happen if they really DID send their bed crashing through the floor!
Book Review: No Jumping On The Bed Summary: 4 StarsAuthor: Tedd Arnold When Walter starts jumping on the bed his Dad tells him, "Don't jump on the bed or you might fall through the floor." I don't think the little boy wants to stop jumping on the bed. The author seems to understand what kids can go through and I hope there are other people who want to read this book to their kids. This is a very creative book and I think that someone who can write a book and somehow know almost everything a kid will do, must really understand kids. Tedd Arnold is a very creative person. I would read this book to my little brothers, sisters and cousins because it's a very good book and it's appropriate for children eight and younger.
