"Unsung, the noblest deed will die." This is the last sentence in the book and it can't be any more true. The stories of these heroic soldiers needs to be told and retold so their sacrifices are never forgotten. Many gave their lives for their country, their fellow soldiers and for freedom and democracy. Many will be haunted for the rest of their lives with images most of us could never comprehend.
This book is a great way to learn of their stories and accomplishments and as well honor their memories. Bing West does a fantastic job portraying this story on the pages of this book. A lot of battles or events I recalled from news stories, repeatedly shown on television or written in newspaper headlines. This book gives you the detailed version of what happened on the ground, told by the soldiers who fought there. The reviews on this book clearly show the quality story Bing West has written based on hundreds of interviews he performed. It is a rewarding read and I highly recommend it to all, regardless of your stance of the war.
