Book Review: Be Warned: This Short British Book Contains Almost No Information or Insight

It was disappointing to finally receive this book after anticipating something exciting. Published in England and written by someone whose name isn't even on the cover (along with no description of his qualifications), the book takes a supposedly academic film school approach to one of the greatest movies ever made. But much of the 74 pages is rehashing the plot (which anyone who wants to buy this book will already know) and then arguing over which traditional style of film school Hitchcock used for a particular scene. Boring.
Thoughts are never fully developed. For instance, he talks about the importance of editing--then goes into a very short history of editing and Hitchcock, but never really says much about how editing impacted this movie. There should be scene dissections, inside information, comments from professional editors, etc. But there is really nothing.
It adds nothing new to what a North by Northwest lover wouldn't already know. Probably the only value in it is that is contains a bibliography that the author pulled from, so you can go find the original material that must be much better and more complete.
