Book Reviews of Nory Ryan's Song

Book Review: Very Moving
Summary: 5 Stars

I reccomend this book to everyone, unless you get depressed easily. I think this book describes realistically what it must have been like during the potato famine. It's a very sad book, but is educational and should be read at least once in a life time. I want to read the sequel (Maggie's Door) to find out what happens next!

Book Review: What A Aong?
Summary: 4 Stars

This book was about a girl?s life, and a song that she lived through or more and like her life. I liked this book because I like the way the author based the personalities of the characters and how she related these characters to other character?s in more of her other books.
This book was related to a lot of other books that I have read.

Book Review: What a Song to Live Through?
Summary: 2 Stars

Life is always hard when you know that your poor and you keep thinking what I can do to help so you can just get by. Although you really have no chose about if you're poor or rich. Some people think oh well we can get by and make a lot of money, while others say that they have to do a lot just to make a little bit of money. Well in the book Nory Ryan's Song, Nory Ryan had to help so much that she had to get up early, and she had to pray that her family's potato farm would not just go bad over night because that was her family's only source of income at that time. When she woke up to a horrid smell of rotten potato she about got sick because she was probably thinking what are we going to do to survive in the world these days. Now that the crops were bad Nory Ryan, and her family were fighting to find something to eat as well as something to drink. There were horse's that carried the milk and some small servings of food down streets to people's houses.
This book was based on historic times although it was a fictional book. This book was based on the Irish Potato Famine but being a children's book. Patricia Reilly Giff didn't think that children that would read this book would understand about it.

Book Review: Wonderful
Summary: 5 Stars

I could feel the hunger in my stomach! Once again, Patricia Reilly Giff (did i spell it right?) gives us a unique book. With a strong, very believable main character and an interesting plot and setting, I was interested in every page. I couldn't put it down, and i read it all night. And since historical fiction is my favorite genre, this was especially a pleasure for me. Definitely a must buy, great book!
