The book number the Stars by Losi Lowry was great. It was great becuse it showed views of diffrent people in the same situation. The girls stay friends and are not that aware of what big of risk they are taking until near the end of the escape when they were saying there final goodbyes. This book took place in 1943 in Denmark. The Nazi soliders wanted rule and controll but the Jewish people and their friends over came the enmy by sticking togethere and fighting back.

Book Review: A Holocaust tale appropriate for younger readers
Summary: 5 Stars

10-year-old Annemarie Johannesen narrates this story (based on real events) set in Denmark during WWII. The Danish resistance arranged to transport many Jews to safety in Sweden after they found out that Jews were being sent to concentration camps by the Nazis.

Annemarie is not Jewish, but her best friend, Ellen, is. Annemarie's family helps smuggle Ellen and her parents, along with several other Jewish families, out of the country. Lowry manages to give the reader a sense of the horror of the Holocaust without going into graphic detail.

Book Review: A Lois Lowry Masterpiece
Summary: 5 Stars

I came across Number the Stars in a local bookstore this morning, and just a glimpse of the cover reminded me of the lessons and daring of this beautiful story. Set in Denmark during World War II, this book shows the courage and strength of individuals who are willing to risk their safety (and their lives) for those they love. The novel is beautifully written and full of lasting memories and lessons. It is a book every parent should read with his or her children.
