Book Review: Great book, paper quality, not so good.
Summary: 4 Stars
This is a very good book and I agree with all the previous reviews that have been said before mine. It challenges the advancing oboists sight-reading ability and helps to improve their musical technique(I'm looking at YOU Articulation Exercises!) One of my favorite things to do, is use music notation software and play-along with the accompaniment (bass clef line) that I have manually typed. The book is larger than I expected, something I enjoyed. There are other versions of the Barret book out there, but my instructor said to purchase this one (edited by Martin Schuring) because most, if not all, of the inconsistencies/errors have been removed.
My only concern is that the paper quality is poor. This is the reason for the 4 stars. It feels like cheap copy paper that you buy at any office supply store. I guess I was expecting a heavier paper that would withstand everyday use/abuse from students, however, I'm learning to deal with it because the experience I'm gaining is worth it!
