Book Review: Goes beyond the descripton of card games
Summary: 4 Stars
I expected a book of basic rules for card games and this one is fine, with instructions for everything from Bridge to Poker to Whist, as well as some little known games such as Panguingue, Six Pack Bezique,etc. But this book also has these very nice features:
1. The list of games clearly indicates whether each game is for 2,3, 4 or more players. That helps narrow down the choices to the right games for the number of people.
2. There is a basic age guide for some of the popular games. For example, Go Fish is suggested for children ages 6-9 while Hearts is recommended for older children.
3. Card games are divided into three categories, helping you find a game that suits your mood. Those categories are Hilarious, Social and Studious. If you are sitting inside for 3 days because of a snow storm, you might want to break the gloomy mood with a hilarious game...or perhaps you want the diversion of a studious game. In any case, you have your choice and you'll know what to expect.
4. A special section focuses on card-playing etiquette and this is much appreciated (by me).It has common sense rules but it sure helps to learn them early!
My only reservation about this is the lack of a Table of Contents. This is a very exhaustive index, however, so this is really a minor inconvenience.
