Book Review: Well worth reading

Whether or not you believe, as the title claims, John Lowe is "Britain's greatest darts player", he's certainly one of the top three (the other two being Bristow and Taylor, of course), which in itself makes this book a must for any darts' fan. Luckily, Lowe doesn't disappoint, in fact quite the opposite: nothing is missing, and the tales `Lowey' tells (especially the Ali one) help you sail through the book without once ever having to grind through a chapter, even the non-dart `technical/financial' ones. My only gripes would be that: (a) there isn't a name index at the back (b) more tellingly; he slowly builds his life story up from child to adulthood quite nicely, then, woefully, in the space of two or so pages, he leaps from dart beginner to beyond World Champion. Later in book, Lowe does cover all aspects of this darting progress, but I just wish he'd kept format and built up the tension to becoming World Champion, rather than glossing over it and covering it later. Whether this layout is altered in the paperback, I don't know, but don't let these grumbles deter you from reading this, which was much more engrossing than I thought it was going to be.
