Book Review: Good but left me feeling as though many questions were left unanswered

Although I have both of Evanescence's albums - FALLEN and THE OPEN DOOR - until I read this book, I did not know much about the band members themselves. Just before the release of THE OPEN DOOR, I saw Amy Lee on a music channel, introducing some of their songs and talking about their videos. This was when I started to want to find out more about her and her band. I hoped that this biography would be able to do that for me. Unfortunately, it did not live upto my expectations.
As I read more and more, I began to feel as though all Simon Moore was doing was giving the reader a run down of all the gigs they had done so far. While this describes how they may have gained recognition and become the huge band they are today, it does not explore the members as people. It would have been so interesting to have had some insight the creative process that Amy Lee goes through - while this was touched upon, it never really looked at any depth into particular song lyrics; this was just touched upon a couple of times.
I think, for myself, I would have been far more content reading an autobiograhy of the band, or of Amy Lee. One of my other favourite artists, Tori Amos, did this last year, and it was very insightful - you felt as though you could understand her more from every angle. All I can say, is I hope that the same will happen here - artists as good as Amy Lee should be celebrated and allowed to express their true selves to the fans. I shall keep my fingers crossed. . .
