Book Reviews of Once Upon a Potty -- Boy

Book Review: Terrible for toddler attention span.
Summary: 1 Stars

I have no idea how this book could work for anyone with a toddler that does not want to sit through countless pages of "And I, his mother....." etc. My little guy does not sit still most of the day anyway, and I couldn't expect him to pay attention to this entire book when I found it hard to make it through myself! It is extremely long for the short attention span most children his age have and not written to catch a toddler's interest. I do not change any wording while reading ANY book to my child because as I read, he learns those words and how to read himself. More than half of this book is "and I, his mother (complaining about having to change diapers for months)...." and the other half is of the little boy's exploration of the thing that is supposed to be his new potty. The potty looks like a pot or pitcher of some sort...nothing like today's training potty unless you pulled something out of the cabinet for your little one. I like the first pages where he explains his body parts, although not the correct terms, that's about it. I would not recommend this book to anyone to aid in the introduction of potty training, it is a shame.

Book Review: This Book Really Helped my Son
Summary: 5 Stars

My son was having trouble sitting on the potty long enough to let anything come out. When he saw that Joshua had to sit for a really long time he felt better about waiting. I believe it is easy for little boys to relate to Joshua because he is a little boy JUST LIKE THEM! This is the perfect potty training book and I am going to buy it for my nephew and grandson! This book is AWESOME!!!

Book Review: Timeless, Classic, and a Favorite!
Summary: 5 Stars

My toddler LOVES this book. It is his current favorite. He loves pointing at each of the pictures and "reading" along with me. The pages are made of card stock weight materials instead of regular paper, so it holds up really well to the excited hands of my 21-month old. Sure, the art style is out-dated (the potty looks like a big pitcher), but a toddler isn't likely to notice the difference. My son isn't potty trained yet, but this book did exactly what I hoped it would - get him interested in his potty & used to the vocabulary. I'd definitely recommend this book to other parents.

Book Review: Very Cute
Summary: 5 Stars

My 22 month old son love's reading about Joshua, The little boy in this book. It has quickly become one of his favorite's and I would reccomend it to anyone with a little potty training boy.

Book Review: Very Cute and Useful
Summary: 5 Stars

My own children had the "girl" version of this book and they remember it so fondly that my daughter requested the "boy" version for her son. Which I've happily purchased for him!

I love this little book and it has a "stick-to-it-ness" that works well with a preschooler. The illustrations are cute and it gives plenty of detail without being gross.

The only mild criticism I would have is that the boy's version uses the name "Joshua" for the main character and I would have better enjoyed something more original.
