Book Reviews of One Fifth AvenueBook Review: Best Book I've read in along time! Summary: 5 Stars
I've never read any of Candace Bushnell's books. I have however watched her show sex and the city and loved it, so I thought I'd try out her newest book. I couldnt put it down and was completely disappointed when it ended, cause I wanted it to go on and on. I hope that this will be made into a tv series also or that perhaps she'll come out with a second book to this one.
Book Review: Best Candace Bushnell Book Yet! Summary: 5 Stars
I have read all of Candace Bushnell's books and have loved them, but this is by far her best! The characters are captivating and the plot is full of excitement and surprises.
Book Review: Big Disappointment for Me Summary: 2 Stars
I am a huge fan of Candace's previous work, addicted to Sex In the City, watch Lipstick Jungle faithfully - so I was excited to see this come out and grabbed it immediately. I have struggled repeatedly to get through this book, and force myself to keep coming back to finish as I keep hoping something better will happen. Almost too many character storylines fighting for attention, hard to keep track! Not only does it also seem overdone, some even seems like "I've read it before" in her other books. I too think the characters are shallow and not even quite sure of the point of some of them - even for the staunchest of fans, I wouldn't recommend it.
Book Review: Bland Summary: 2 Stars
I'm giving up. I'm not going to spend any more of my free time on this book. When I purchased it, I had been looking for a light read set in NYC. I should have set higher standards. While One Fifth Avenue is certainly all of the above, it is also annoyingly dull. The characters are all very difficult to like (purposefully so?), and the story line is impossibly slow. I don't care how accurate Bushnell's social commentary is here, the point remains; not a moment I have spent reading One Fifth Avenue has been truly enjoyable. It has simply been a way of passing the time.
Book Review: Bushnell brings characters to life Summary: 3 Stars
Bushnell does a fabulous job in bringing the characters in One Fifth to life. One Fifth is a fun, candy for the eyes read about the upper crust in Manhattan.
