Book Review: Finally some good Oshun info!

As an Orisha priest I'm always interested in reading some GOOD information about the various deities in our pantheon. Fairly often I'm disappointed: many books are simply rehashing old stuff, not to mention the enormous blunders so-called "knowledgeable" authors make, and the self-perpetuating urban myths they tend to reproduce as "facts".
In the midst of this sad state of affairs Kayode Afolabi's "Osun in Colours: Pictorial History of the River Goddess Osun" is a pleasant surprise. Not only is the author a native Yoruba, born and raised in the Oshun cult, but he also isn't shy to share many so-called secrets with us, both in text and in pictures.
For those who are interested in the cult of Oshun, in her main centre of worship Oshogbo, and in the remarkable sculptural and architectural work of priestess Suzanne Wenger ("Adunni"), Afolabi's book will be a revelation. There's stuff to be LEARNED here!
I can only think of two things that might need some improvement: the printed quality of the photographs scores a meager 6 on a scale of 10, and the lettercorps is on the largish side. Neither distracts from the quality of the info, but from a cosmetic point of view an eventual reprint should take these issues into account.
My final verdict: one of the better books in my library!
