Book Review: Cute revenge fantasies told reasonably well
Summary: 4 Stars
Yaya, the mousy middle-schooler, is just trying to get through to graduation. However, her "friends" ridicule and tease her, and matters only get worse when the object of her friends' affection starts to prefer Yaya over them. As the pranks and hijinks escalate, another personality emerges: Nana, the girl who is the total opposite of Yaya. She's brash, obnoxious, and gives back more than she gets. Of course, Yaya has no clue.
Ms. Ikezawa has a good beginning here, but I'm not etirely sure how long she can keep up these similar storylines of "brats tease Yaya, Nana gets revenge" before it gets too trite. Artistically, it reminds me of folks like Miyuki Norita and other artists who publish in the romance magazines like Dessert, Besastu Furendo, and LaLa. It's not bad, it's not great, it just is what it is.
Overall, it's fun and worth taking a look at. If you were like Yaya in high school, you'll probably enjoy this more, though, if for nothing else than the vicarious revenge.
