Book Reviews of PS, I Love YouBook Review: I just loved this book! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know how anyone could give it a bad review. The lead character is witty and totally relatable. I read the whole thing in one sitting and immediately shipped it off to a friend. It's one of those books you want everyone you know to read. Happy and tragic all at the same time.
Book Review: I loved this book. Summary: 5 Stars
I just finished watching the movie and it reminded me of how much I loved this story. While the movie was good on it's own, when compared to the book, the movie is lacking. I thought the story was well written and I loved all the hysterical situations Holly and her friends got into. The entire story is relatable no matter how old you are, single/married, male/female. I laughed, cried and on many occasions did both at the same time. This was a great debut for Cecelia Ahern.
Book Review: I'm Satisfied Summary: 4 Stars
This was pretty good chic lit. I thought the author did a really good job telling this story. Holly is a young widow, trying to get over the loss of her husband. About five months after he dies, Holly receives a package of letters written by Gerry before his death. She is to open one each month until the end of the year. The letters help her slowly get on with her life and yet keep a small part of Gerry alive. I liked the idea of this story. The main characters are very well developed. I wish I had a family like Holly's. The ending is definitely a surpise. I did not expect it. If definitely is not a Hollywood ending. I wonder if the movie is?
Book Review: It was OK Summary: 3 Stars
This is a very poorly written book. Certain aspects of this book made me feel like I was reading the story of an 18 year old opposed to 30. The main character, Holly, is likeable in a cute college kid kind of way. She goes through a rough patch which makes her act in certain ways but the whole documentary video and getting lost at sea situations are just over the top. The book is very easy to read, if you didn't read up on the author you would think that it was written by a 5th grader but overall the book was OK. Near the end I got tired of all her childish and inmature escapades.
Book Review: Laugh Out Loud Good Summary: 4 Stars
It is always a nice change to read something written from a non-American viewpoint. There's a different flavor to the characters. Some of the scenes had me laughing out loud. Eventhough the entire book is written about grief and I did cry a little most of the book was about taking each day as a gift and opening all opportunities as though they were presents. The main character had to be reminded of that from her deceased spouse but it teaches us all that we can make good out of bad and to take chances. Hard to believe this was written by such a young (early 20s) author.
