Book Review: Tecumseh is what all Native Nations need NOW.

If all Native Nations had a leader like Tecumseh, we would probably be living in harmony right now. No Culture loss. I often wonder if there is such a man out there somewhere who would be able to capture my heart as he did.
Book Review: The Best Fictional (?) Biography Ever!

I first read this book ten years ago, at the age of twelve. On average, I read it or another of Thom's books every year. What is wondeful about this particular one is the incredible amount of research he put into a "fictional" piece. As a member of the present-day Shawnee Nation United Remnant Band, I know firsthand how he studied with our chief and our elders and also pored over every piece of written history that he could get his hands on. Thus, though it is a fictionalized account of Tecumseh's life, it is very accurate in the events it describes, as well as the language, customs and costumes of the Shawnee. On top of all that, it is a wonderful story, told by a master. As a future high school history teacher, I plan to make parts of it required reading in American History class. Don't pass up this book!Book Review: The great American novel

In "Panther in the Sky," James A. Thom has, perhaps, achieved the great American novel. If not, it certainly places him in the pantheon of American writers. He may even be the best writer we have.Don't miss this book!

I have read extensively on the life of Tecumseh and this is the defintive novel. I feel it is best to read last, or reread once one feels he or she understands the settling of the Northwest. It takes knowledge to respct this novel. This is the book that tells the tale of Tecumseh, but one must understand the tale of Tecumseh before one appreciates this book. Thom is a thoughtful and dedicated writer. Outstanding.Book Review: This is truly a moving and inspirational story

This was the fourth book of the author's that I have read and I almost didn't read it. What a great loss that would have been. I found myself reading through tears many times. The whole story was so moving, particularly at the end. The passion and the dignity with which Tecumseh lived his life and fought for his people was truly inspirational. The author does such a magnificent job in his novels which reflects his meticulous research on his subjects. For those who like to read this sort of well-researched historical fiction, I highly recommend any and all of his books.
