Book Reviews of PassionBook Review: Good except for the submission Summary: 4 Stars
I borrowed this book and therefore decided to read some reviews first. I think the best that I read said to stop reading the reviews and just read the book. That's so very true. The reviews had me really skeptical about the book but overall it was a good book and very fast paced.
In brief Passion and Mark meet during in incident at the Crystal Palace. Immediately they are drawn to each other sexually and find some place to satisfy their urges. They decide to remain strangers, at first disclosing only their first names. They agree to have no regrets, thinking the encounter to be a one time thing. However as days go by they continue to meet, their bond gets stronger. Mark is being blackmailed into marriage, the hold being a scandalous letter written by Mark's mother regarding her lover and the legitimacy of his brother. Although infuriated Mark decides to go along wih the engagement until he can find the letter. In the meantime the feelings between Passion and Mark has deepened and it isn't until later that they learn that Mark is engaged to Passion's cousin.
I dont agree with those who say there was no romance, no story or no character development. Admittedly the book starts off with a lot of sex scenes but there was still a story and as the book goes on we begin to see the development of the romance between Passion and Mark. Mark did seem a bit to domineering at first but by the end of the book, as he recognizes, love we see a change.
Some of the language was a turnoff though. I did not like the idea of submission and at first found Passion a bit on the weak side. I do think that we could have done with some of the unnecessary crying. However Passion showed her mettle in the way she dealt with her interaction with Mark after learning that he was engaged to her cousin.
For a first effort it was very good and I am interested in reading Patience if anyone can find it.
Book Review: Good story-telling! Summary: 5 Stars
Sex stories are hard to tell! Face it, not everybody is turned on the same way. But Lisa Valdez skillfully made her "Passion" one of the most sexy stories I have ever read.
How did she do it? For me, the romance aspect of it is simply captivating: A young woman with a not-so-happy background, a gem not yet discovered, a passion not yet discovered...Then came a mysterious man, handsome, charming, and every other hot traits you may think of. And the expected happened. Who would not want to experience that?
But Valdez did not stop there. There was a secret. There was a struggle. There were trials. And there was a broke-up. But in the end, the good was redeemed and the bad was punished. Happily ever after.
If this sounded too much like a perfect romance, you are right! Perfect romance could be cliche, but Valdez has created such credible characters that I was totally entranced.
Book Review: Great Development of Characters! Great Sensuality! Summary: 5 Stars
Right off the bat, "Passion" gave me something startling. Most people today wouldn't even think of having sex in a public museum. Again and again, to a stranger, no less! Way back then in England, with such prudish society?!?
I also got an education. Whew, the things a man can do with a woman's person!
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. All the characters were well-developed. The two black-hearted hellions masquerading as mothers! And the evolution of Mark! Ending up so loving a woman, he was willing to live the remainder of his life in utter misery, married to someone he despised.
For the first time, a romance novel made me actually feel real pain and cry. I felt all Mark's and Passion's agony.
Yes, this one is highly erotic but there is also an interesting story with passionate, memorable characters.
Enjoyed every bit of it!
Book Review: Great Emotional Romance Summary: 5 Stars
This was a very sensual love story that was surprisingly emotional. I won't detail the plot as so many others have done it very well. This book is not your average historical romance read. Everything is over the top--the emotion, the characters, the interactions, and the explicit sexual scenes. Readers should be forwarned that the language is very raw. That said, it was a womderful, fast read that will remain on my keeper shelf!
Book Review: Great historical romance!! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm usually not big into historical books of any type but this book was an exception. It had a great plot with intriguing characters. It kept me guessing until the very end and actually even brought me to tears at one point. The sex in this book was amazingly hot and passionate.
