Book Reviews of PassionBook Review: Great love story, well told Summary: 5 Stars
The brothers in this novel are so well-written and believable. The conversations are as well. I was carried along so effortlessly through this story. There wasn't a stall anywhere. The ending squeezed my heart because it was the perfect way to end this book. Mark is very alpha male, but not in an over-the-top way. Hurt by a lack of parental love he is fulfilled by the widowed Passion (the heroine's name), who is very loving and deeply maternal. A fantastic love story! Patiently awaiting Patience, the next book in the trilogy. It's out in April!

Book Review: Great sex and a great story ! Summary: 5 Stars
First, let me say that I am very tired of the same old formula driven romance stories. Most romance writers write the same tired, beautiful girl meets rich, attractive man, and have the same sex, over and over. I was looking for something different and intense and this book did not disappoint. I don't look for great depth in romance fiction (I mean, it is fiction...you know pretend!) just great entertainment and this book delivered! I received this book in the mail yesterday and finished it at 1:00 a.m. last night.
The male character is dominate, sexy and probably too much for some women. Unless you are a strong, secure woman, strong enough to realise that there is nothing demeaning about trusting a strong, worthy man to take the lead in the relationship, this male lead is not for you. I found him very appealing! Dominate, confident and yet human. He had issues. The female lead for once had a brain. She didn't continue to do stupid things and offer that token resistance that you find in so many romance novels. She loved the male lead, but was unwilling to take her happiness at the expense of someone else. Like a good couple should, they complemented each other. He needed someone to love him and she needed to be loved. Their relationship is passionate and intense. The story moves at a quick pace and the reader is swept along with the characters. The secondary characters were well written and I was happy to see a more realistic approach to evil people. I am glad to see that the author resisted the politically correct last minute apology. Mother is just misunderstood, excuse her behavior...then we cry and forgive Mother, air kiss, hug and everyone lives happily ever after. Sometimes people are just bad! The best thing to do is stay away from them...even if they are related to you.
I look foward to revisiting Mark and Passion in the coming years. For those nay-sayers out there all I can say is if it is too hot for you, get out of the kitchen. I'm stayin! The only disappointment that I have with this series is that I have to wait for the next book until May 2007! This book (Passion) was written in 2005 and I thought that I would be able to stop by my local bookstore and pick up Patience and read it tonight. In reading the reviews for Passion I found the authors website which I visited to learn about the delay in Patience's story. Lisa Valdez should know that I support her. I have already pre-ordered the next book. She should stay true to herself, write what she wants and people will like it or they won't! Obviously she struck a cord with some women or Passion would not have been so sucessful.
As far as Matt and Patience, they are different characters. Their story will be different and from the teaser at the back of Passion, it too should be hot! I for one can't wait!
Book Review: Hanky please! Summary: 5 Stars
Well written!
I usually read romance with a bit of a smirk. The ups and downs (sincerely, no pun intended!) of the romance plot are just too predictable.
This one actually kept me guessing and the erotic part was highly erotic (although the male anatomy part was a bit funny).
The writing was so clean, so well edited, and the story so tight, I was surprised to learn this is Lisa Valdez' first novel.
I am impatiently waiting for "Patience" the story of Passion's younger sister.
Hurry up already, Lisa and Berkley Sensation!
Book Review: Hardly Historical Summary: 2 Stars
If you can suspend belief that in the 1800's the mother of an English Earl eager to marry off her son can drop the F-bomb - as both an adjective and a verb- this book is for you. I had a hard time connecting at all with the story due to the more modern vernacular sprinkled through out except for the laughable Cockney lad (who should have been the one with the rough language) and the ridiculous trysts in the beginning. The sex scenes were hardly tender (a "popping" noise ;o( does not sound fun) ...although there was an attempt at the end to be more loving. I was skimming by 2/3's through. Only worthy of some cheap thrills.
Book Review: Has its goods and bads, weak on characters Summary: 3 Stars
Frequent, steamy and possibly biologically impossible sex scenes. There was no other creative element making me surprised, laugh or delighted. Towards the end, I was frustrated that Mark wasn't honest with Matt. I would have preferred that Mark tell Matt the truth instead of both he and Passion suffering forever. Sexual content: strong.
