Book Reviews of PassionBook Review: A Different Take Summary: 5 StarsI picked up this book because I was bored. I was NOT expecting what was between the covers - yes I was guilty of judging this book by it's cover. I was suprised, but in a good way. For the unsuspecting, it will come as a shock to read, but as you can see that didn't hinder me. I thought the story line was a bit unbelieveable - what with a woman meeting a stanger and allowing him liberties with her person on such short aquaintance and all. Aside from that, however, this was a well written book. I eagerly await more from this author.
Book Review: totally unbelievable story Summary: 1 StarsBased on the glowing reviews, I thought this book would be extremely sexy and romantic. Instead, it was just jaw-droppingly stupid. No man or woman, even today, would have sex in an exhibition hall unless they were an exhibitionist and wanted to be caught at it. With all the risks involved, that's not sexy, it's just dumb. The sex scenes between them were beyond cartoonish. I can hardly imagine a man today (except in a porn movie, maybe) using such silly words (such as the repetitive use of both the female and male C words) with a stranger, let alone over 150 years ago. The author totally wore those words and the F word out. And the scene where Mark argues with his mother and the size of his and his father's genitalia are mentioned, was offensive. I think this book deserves 0 stars.
Book Review: OMG!!! Summary: 5 StarsWhat a passionate, erotic, and romantic story. From the first page to the last page I was captivated. The two main characters were made for each other. I have never read a Lisa Valdez story, but after this one, it will not be the last!!!
Book Review: Simply Excellent!!!!! Summary: 5 StarsGreat read!!!! I LOVED this book it was full of everything you could ask for and the name did not disappoint! Cannot wait for the sequel!!!
Book Review: Tasty Romance At Its Best! Summary: 5 StarsSexy, explicit, and yes romantic, this is tasty romance at it's best!
For me the plot seemed simple and intriguing at the same time. The conflict was not hidden- except from the two leads and I waited on pins and needles till they finally figured out what was going on behind the scenes. I was anxious, not because of the conflict, but because I wanted to see how they would react. If they over or under reacted it would ruin the book for me. Fortunately the author played it perfectly!
My one little bugaboo with the story revolves around the sex scenes. Don't get me wrong- it was well played and I loved that she didn't shy from explicitness, but there were times where I thought it was slightly annoying. C'mon, how many times can you have sex in the same OPEN place without being caught? (Apparently as much as you want according to this book.) But it's a romance book so I'll excuse the unreality for the sake of fantasy.
Recently I've been frustrated with the historical romance genre. Inundated with clichéd, overused plots, the genre is all but over for me. Unfortunately, or fortunately for the publishers, I pick up enough gems like Passion to keep me coming back.
