Book Review: A New Benchmark For Zombies
Summary: 5 Stars
I am a HUGE fan of zombies and have been for well over 30 years, unlike many of the recent bandwagon converts to zombies thanks to movies such as Dawn of the Dead 2004 and Shaun of the Dead. This book by Jonathan Maberry is one of the best I have read in recent years. He takes a new look at zombies that is seeming to come right out of our current headlines. Terrorism and zombies in the 21st century, the Nazi's of our generation if you will.
I applaud Jonathan for this book and truly look forward to the further adventures of Joe Ledger.
With that being said, and this may just be me, it was difficult for me to connect to the members of Joe's team. During the raid on the warehouse by the docks, I couldn't tell you who was who, where they were or what they were doing. That's just a minor complaint.
When you consider the accuracy of the weapons, a HUGE pet peeve of mine in books and movies (one of the reasons I am NOT a big fan of The Cell), I am afforded the opportunity to forgive the team aspect a little bit. Yeah, I know, it seems like a mix up in priorities.
In the end, BUY this book. Then go buy mine! =)
