Book Reviews of Pay It Forward

Book Review: It's not original
Summary: 3 Stars

Sorry to bear the bad news, but there is nothing original in either the concept of this book or the phrase "pay forward." A late, well-known football coach used the words "pay forward" in teaching a generation of college athletes to do well in the world, and to stretch themselves beyond their playing field accomplishments. He stressed that you can never pay back the people who helped you along in your formative years, so you have an implicit obligation to pay forward. I searched this book for some sort of acknowledgement of this great man's idea and didn't find it. So here is the attribution that should have appeared in the book.

Book Review: Just read it!
Summary: 5 Stars

Read this book, and then pay it forward to someone else...I did!

Book Review: LOVELY BOOK FROM COVER TO COVER
Summary: 4 Stars

"Pay It Forward" is a wondeful feat by Ms. Hyde in displaying the worth of the everyday person. A thoughtful idea from an innocent child who has bore emotional pain all his youth comes to light, and gives hope to a nation starved for an answer. "Paying it forward" is the concept of doing a favor, a sacrifice for 3 people regardless of the personal cost. Twelve year old Trevor conceives this plot as an answer to a geography assignment. His odessy of carrying this concept through makes this book hard to put down. We meet a variety of flawed but forging characters; his mother Arlene struggling to stay afloat and sober; a geography teacher scarred by wounds inside and out from Vietnam, and a multitude of others who play into the well designed plot. This is a beautiful book that may be panned by cynics, but for those of us aching for a kinder world this read aspires hope.

Book Review: MUST READ
Summary: 5 Stars

I RAN ACROSS THIS BOOK WHILE BROWSING THROUGH THE LOCAL LIBRARY FOR A "GOOD, WHOLESOME BOOK". THIS ONE CAUGHT MY EYE. AND I MUST SAY I DEFINITELY WAS A GOOD BOOK. THE CHARACTERS AND THE STORY LINE WAS GREAT. THE END WAS SAD, BUT THE MEANING WAS VERY CLEAR. I AM SKEPTICAL ABOUT SEEING THE MOVIE.

Book Review: Magnificent work!
Summary: 5 Stars

I thought this book was kind of a teacher book. It proves every little thing or assignment can change the world. I like how such a simple idea such as 'Pay it Forward' can change the world. The only weak part about this book was the ending. It's so predictable. (Maybe not exactly what happened, but something bad)
