Book Reviews of Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday LifeBook Review: Good living described in simple elegance. Summary: 5 StarsThis is my favorite of his books. I've bought several copies and given them to friends who were interested in getting a little exposure to Buddhism. Since the format is of small essays, it makes a good bathroom book.
Book Review: THE HAPPINESS YOU CAN BUY Summary: 5 StarsThere is a Thai sentence " sawan yu nai oak , narok yu nai jai " which is mean either the heaven or the hell is within your heart . The heaven is within yourself already , the problem is how to go there , the problem is we usually forget about this . Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us about this simply , beautifully in his book " Peace is every step " "By taking care of the present moment , we take good care of the future ." he wrote in the book. Even you are a billionaire , if you are not in the present moment mindfully [ thinking to get more money , worrying about everything which has been happened already , which has not yet happened ] all the time you will not have a real happiness. You are struggling for something worthless. In the other way , whether you are the billionaire or not , if you are in the present moment you can breathe freely , you can smile freely , you are able to be in the stage of happiness and peace . the peace and the happiness is within yourselves. I agree with H.H. The Dalai Lama who has written in the Foreward that " This is a very worthwhile book , it can change individual lives and the life of our society. Everyday we use some money to buy food to give our body alive, should we spare some money to buy some books [ like this one] to give our mind alive peacefully , this is the real happiness! So, if someone think that he can use some money to buy some happiness, he can use it to buy this book !
Book Review: Amazing Summary: 5 StarsThis book was written by a Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk. But don't let that fool you, this book is for everyone. The author doesn't try to convert you to his religion, the only Buddhist principles in this book go hand in hand with many Christian beliefs. The author shows how easy it is to live a fulfilling life in harmony with yourself and the world around you.Read this book if you ever feel depressed or if you feel you are getting lost in the modern age. This book will not tell you who you are, but it will help to show you how you can discover what it is you really want and find happiness. Thich Nan Haht was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by none other than Martin Luther King Jr. Highly recommended.
Book Review: A Profoundly Moving Book Summary: 5 StarsThis book touched me deeply. The idea of truly living moment by moment, of making the most of each moment, has powerfully influenced my attitude and feelings about many things. Here is a great place for a Western reader to begin learning about Buddhist philosophy. The writing is clear and beautiful. The ideas, though expressed simply, contain great subtlety and meaning. And the examples used to illustrate these ideas, such as red lights and ringing phones, come from our everyday experiences. If your life seems to be somehow out of control, if your spirit is struggling for peace, you may, as I did, find real help in these pages. But I think this is a book that must be lived, not merely read--it is not an answer, but the beginning of an answer.
Book Review: A Beautiful Book Summary: 5 StarsA beautiful book whose purpose is to remind you that every moment of your life can be peaceful, whether you are in a traffic jam, doing the washing up or walking down the street. It is not a religious book, so can be read by anyone - no matter what your beliefs. This book is a must for anyone feeling stressed out with the pressures of modern living. Peace is there if you know how to find it.
