Book Reviews of Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life

Book Review: The Best marrige counseling you could every get from a book!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this book at a talk given by Thich Nhat Hanh at Norwich University in Vermont. The Talk was the subject of this book. I have learned more about how to treat people and the ones we love with Mindfulness Living then every before. This is a necessary book for all those interested in the Buddhist way of living. It was written and spoken in a way that a westerners can understand. Thanks, Steve Coutermarsh Canaan, NH

Book Review: Breathing out, you will smile.
Summary: 5 Stars

Did you ever play that game when you were a kid? "What would you take if you were stranded on an island?" Well, we are all on the same island, and my answer is Thich Nhat Hahn's "Peace is Every Step". You will want to read it often, as a constant bell of mindfullness. Breathing in, you know you are alive. Breathing out, you smile.

Book Review: A must for those seeking peace in this life !
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was indeed a find! I have read many on similar topics - but the author captures the essence of Zen in few words that are alarmingly simple. Regardless of your core belief system, each person can take something with them from this book. This book helped me to transform my daily habits and to develop consious awareness of living intensively. His illustrations of how to be in the present moment are indeed, worth reading and are easily pulled back from memory. His method of presentation is truly a manifestation that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Book Review: Finding tranquility in modern life
Summary: 5 Stars

Thich Nhat Hanh has learned much about the strife of war having lived in Vietnam during the civil war there. This book is not about war in the traditional sense. It's about the little wars we face every day in modern life. Modern living all too often brings complexity and stress - anger and hatred. Each day brings new opportunity to create tension and anger - or peace and tranquility. Thich Nhat Hanh describes a way to recognize, then appreciate, the beauty and simplicity that surrounds us. He shows how even simple tasks like washing the dishes or tying a child's shoe can be rewarding - can add meaning to life - if done from the right perspective. Building on traditional Buddhist thought adapted to modern Western lifestyles, his advice is gentle but refreshing - reassurance for the frazzled "modern" man or woman.
