Book Reviews of Peter and the StarcatchersBook Review: One of the best books ever Summary: 5 StarsWhen my big brother gave me this book, I thought, "What girl, almost 13 years old, wants to read some dumb book about Peter Pan?" But I thought I'd give it a chance anyway. It didn't take long for me to change my mind. It is now one of my favorite books. Since then I have read Peter and the Shadow Thieves and loved it too. I can't wait until I get the new book, Peter and the Secret of Rundoon. I know I'll be sad when I get to the end because I've heard that this will be the last book. I really hope that Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry will write more books like this one.
Book Review: Peter & the Starcatchers Summary: 5 StarsI think the book Peter & the Starcatchers is an excellent book. I love it because it is always putting the reader in suspense. Peter & the Starcatchers is some what like a prequel of Peter Pan, but it's not the kiddy version it has true pirate tactics, like leaving two men tied up in a leaking dingy in the middle of the ocean. I would recommend this book to anyone including a critic.
The book Peter & the Starcatchers is about a young orphan boy who put on a ship, the "Neverland" with a few of his other orphan friends, James, Thomas, Prentiss, and Tubby Ted, to Rundoon to serve a evil king that feeds his servents to his snake. But, they never get there. When they first board the ship Peter notices a girl, Molly, who he later finds out is a Starcatcher. A Starcatcher is a member of an organization who protects the world from the evil `Others' who are trying to get a hold of `starstuff', magical falling `stars' that allows you to fly and transformes creatures like fish into mermaids.
Molly's father, Lenardo Aster another Starcatcher, is on another ship, the "Wasp", going to the same destination, he believes the `starstuff' is on the "Wasp" but it turns out to be a decoy. But a pirate named Black Stache has heard that there is a great treasure aboard the "Wasp". After he takes over the "Wasp" and renames it the "Jolly Roger" then sets course for the "Neverland".
Molly recieves news of the "Wasp" from a dolphin that her father sent to tell her he was safe. Slank keeps the real `starstuff' lock away in a separate room that Peter finds when he was looking for some desent food. But Molly had gotten there first to prove her suspitions that the two trunks were switched. When Peter enters the room he notices a rat floting in the air that was expossed to the `starstuff'. The next time Peter goes down Molly stops him and tells him all about her mission and shows him, with the `starstuff' in a locket around her neck, what it can do.
When Black Stache turns around and finally reaches the "Neverland" it is in the beginning of a massive storm he searchs the ship high and low but can not find the `starstuff' anywhere. Molly and Peter knew about what happen to the "Wasp" but can not tell Slank about how Molly knows about the attack so Peter and Molly try to through the `starstuff' overboard but is stoped by Slank and Little Richard, Slanks `assitant'. Black Stache finally finds it but when Peter tries to stop him he throughs Peter overboard.
I'll stop there, to findout the rest you will have to read Peter & the Starcatchers.
Book Review: Peter and the Starcatchers Summary: 5 StarsIf you¡¦re bored of your everyday book, YOU MUST READ Peter and the Starcatchers! The authors Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson wrote a nonstop, action-packed, fantasy book. This book is about Peter and his friends before, and how they got to where they are in Never Land and much more. Some really good parts you want to pay attention to are when the pirates attack the Never Land ship with Peter and his friends on it, and at the end of the book when Peter tells how he protected the starstuff. I liked this book for all the nonstop action and surprises it offers. The author definitely did well at keeping my attention by having a bunch of exciting scenes and telling you how the things that happened in the movie Peter Pan happened because of these scenes, it¡¦s like going back in time. You need to read this book; I repeat, NEED TO read this book if you like action packed nonstop reading books. ººº
Book Review: Rob's Parents Summary: 4 Stars The cover of the book Peter and the Starcatchers, by Ridley Pearson (ISBN 0-78683924-4, 451 pages, $ 5.99), has a man with a large mustache Standing next to a glowing chest. Above the man is a flying boy, and behind him is another larger man restraining a girl. The Authors' names are above the man and the title of the book is below the man on his shoes. The position of the names and title show that the illustration is of importance. It is in fact because it is illustrating the climax of the book. The picture also demonstrates what I believe to that the picture is also meant to demonstrate the mass quantities of imagination that takes place throughout the book.
The book starts out with some orphan boys loading onto a rickety old ship called the Never Land. One of the boys is Peter the main character. Peter doesn't want to go, and tries to escape, but he fails. When he fails he was saved a girl named Molly Aster.
After Peter's attempt at escape, the Never Land, and another Ship called the Wasp departed. As the ships depart the Wasp is being watched by Captain Black Stache, the most infamous pirate captain, on his ship the Sea Devil. He is after a treasure chest that is on the Wasp. As the Wasp leaves his sight he sets off after it.
Back on the Never Land, Peter and the orphans are being starved, so he sets out to find some edible food. As he is looking he comes across a locked room with a heavily guarded treasure chest in it. As he is looking at the box he is attacked by a flying rat and retreats back to the orphans.
Meanwhile the Sea Devil is coming close to overtaking the Wasp. In order to protect the Wasp, her captain sets a man and the treasure in a dory in order to open the Sea Devil up for fire. In order to protect the Sea Devil Captain Stache lures the dory close with a drowning prisoner and harpoons it, all the while attacking the Wasp. The Sea Devil easily captured the Wasp, and afterwards Captain Stache finds out that the Chest on the Wasp was a decoy. He realizes that the real chest was on the Never Land and sets out on the Wasp to capture the Never Land.
Back on the Never Land, Molly asks Peter to help her keep the chest safe from Captain Stache. They decide to throw the chest overboard and as they are doing so the Wasp over takes the Never Land. They throw the chest overboard after much fighting and after they do so Captain Stache throws them overboard. Afterwards the Never Land is sunk. Molly, Peter, A sailor, and the orphans end up on an uncharted island. Then Captain Stache docks on the island as well to look for the chest. I won't revile anymore of the book's story. Instead of giving away the story I will leave at the turning point f the story were the imagination really begins to take off.
The whole book is very imaginative and will keep you reading to the end, as it did to me. This book is also supposed to lead up to the movie "Peter Pan", and thusly the book has to be very imaginative like the movie. I personally loved reading this book and you might too if you prefer imaginative.
Book Review: Can't Get Enough Summary: 5 StarsI have been reading a few chapters of this book each night to my kids. The only problem is, my children don't ever want me to stop. They absolutely love it and can't wait for our storytime each night. The story pulls you in from the very beginning and it is very hard to put down, even for me. Love Love Love it, can't wait to see what happens next!
