Book Reviews of Phantom Death

Book Review: Very Good
Summary: 4 Stars

I was in no way dissapointed with this book. Once again Sadie M. has writted about unbelievable circumstances, making them completely likely to happen for Erik and his many conrads. I personally don't think it was as good as the first two in the series but I cannot put it down for that because those books are so far beyond anything I could have wanted for a perfect phantom continuation. Since this four book series is a continuation of the film version of the phantom from 2004 I would have liked to read a little about the final sceen from the movie when the much older Raoul visits Christines grave and finds the rose and ring that Erik had originaly stolen from her only to give it back in proposal. Obviously in the movie it was Erik who left it by Christines grave. But that was such a touching moment in the movie I think Sadie M. could have done it so much justice if she had added to it. Other than that I am conpletely satisfied with this series and will surely keep the books close to me and read them many times more. Well Done Sadie Montgomery!! Bravo!

Book Review: Very Satisfying Conclusion
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a very satisfying conclusion to Sadie Montgomery's "Phoenix of the Opera" series. I couldn't put it down once I started it. Montgomery's characters continue to be interesting and well rounded.

Inspector Leroux, who was responsible for Erik's capture in Book 1, is back. He has begun to question whether Erik was actually executed, especially when he begins receiving letters from the mysterious "C". His obsession has gotten him nothing but ridicule from his superiors. So, he decides to go off on his own to discover if a reclusive, masked composer, who is currently all the rage in Rome is, in fact Paris' Opera Ghost.

Meanwhile, the opera house has gained a new patroness, one who is causing trouble between Erik and Meg, between Madeleine Ghiry and Marcelo Costanzi, and with the production of the opera itself. And when mysterious incidents begin to occur, rumors start to circulate that the opera house is haunted, bringing the unwanted attention of Inspector Leroux into Erik's new life.

My only complaint about this book is that is the last one in this series. I didn't want to see it come to an end. I want to spend more time with these old friends!

***UPDATE***

Since I originally wrote this review, Ms. Montomery has written several more novels in this series.
