Book Reviews of Phantom's LegacyBook Review: One of the best fan-written sequels I've read Summary: 5 Stars
This book is one of the best Phantom continuation novels I've read yet. It is, admittedly, based mostly on the movie version of the story. I laughed and I cried. I thought the author did a great job of picking up where the movie ended and following Erik, Christine, Raoul and Meg through the rest of their lives and telling the rest of their stories. It didn't seem too "formulaic" like some romance novels. There were some twists and turns that kept me reading to find out what happened next. It also told some of the story of the changing world around them at the turn of the century. I've read some other fan-written sequels that seemed to lose the essence of the characters that I came to know and care about in the movie. This novel stayed true to those characters, but followed them as they grew, as they changed and as their world changed.

This book was purchased for my son. He is an avid reader and loves Phantom of the Opera. He indicated that he really enjoyed reading this book. Thanks.
Book Review: Phantom of the Lifetime Channel Summary: 3 Stars
This melodramatic saga, based on the 2004 Phantom of the Opera movie, attempts to fill in the years between the Phantom's flight from the Opera House and his placement of the ring and rose on Christine's grave years later. In this story, which is written from Erik's (the Phantom's) perspective, Erik finds unconditional love and acceptance (through his "adopted daughter", who he names "Christine") and a happy marriage with Meg. He comes to terms with his appearance after the requisite tearful unmasking, this time, at the hands of his daughter, Christine, and goes on to make amends to society for his past actions as the Phantom through charitable contributions: rebuilding the theater, founding a school of music, sponsoring a hospital, helping a destitute Carlotta, you get the idea.
Erik is forced to face the other Christine and her husband, Raoul, when Erik's daughter, Christine, and the son of Christine and Raoul fall in love and marry. Too many Christines! Couldn't Erik have named her something else? For the sake of their children and grandchildren, the former love triangle make peace with each other, settling into a comfortable friendship.
Add in the strife of WWI and its devastation of Paris and the family drama of having to watch their sons go off to war and you have the makings of the perfect made for tv chick-flick drama.
The book spins a romantic tale, but none of it is particularly original. There are many other pieces of Phantom fan fiction that pair Erik and Meg, have him adopt foundlings, establish schools, orphanages, hospitals and the like. If this is your cup of tea, make some popcorn, and sit back and enjoy. Don't forget the tissues, you'll need them.
Book Review: Phantom's Legacy Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this book on 3/15 and read it the day I received it. Lucilla Epps stayed true to the movie "Phantom of the Opera" with her characters. I have read a lot of Phantom books, but this is probably one of the best I have read since it was all told by Erik himself. If you listened very carefully, you could almost hear Erik. By the way I finished this book in 4 days. If you want to read a PHANTASTIC book, by all means get this one. I guarantee you will not be sorry. I am planning on reading it again and again and would recommend this book to anyone who wants an exciting, funny and sensitive book. It's another side of Erik that you don't see in the movie and it's a nice side.
Book Review: Phantom's Legacy Review Summary: 5 Stars
Note: This book is a sequel to the 2004 movie. This is a great read and well worth the money for any "Phans" out there. The down-side first....what I didn't care for were the naming of some of the characters. There are 2 Christine(s) 2 Erik(s) plus an Erica. This gets a little confusing/distracting sometimes to know for sure which character they're talking about, and a character named Gerard? C'mon.....This could have used a little more originality on the name selections. Other than that, the book is excellently written, the language is period correct for the time and is told from Erik's point of view so we get to know what he is feeling and thinking which I thought was a great touch! It keeps moving with no slow spots. I would reccommend this to anyone. It takes a while to read, but this is his whole life story and a good one it is!
