Book Review: PHANTOM STORY, A GOOD PLOT IS MISSING
Summary: 1 Stars

What do a coke dealer named Siggy and a Goth couple called Fairy and Loren have in common......only the fact that they are being pursued by a cop named Lucas Davenport and that they all appear in John Sanford's novel PHANTOM PREY. I have read many of the prey books and enjoyed them but the entire concept of this book is akin to viewing an episode of the Ghost Whisperer with Melinda visiting SHUTTER ISLAND. On top of that, the secondary story of Siggy and his exhibitionist spouse was dull, dull, dull and added absolutely zero to the story.

For this reader, PHANTOM PREY was less a thrilling excursion through the valley of a fine police procedural and more a bumpy ride through the jungle of schizophrenia. In general the entire plot of the novel was as thin as a slice of prosciutto but not nearly as appetizing.

Book Review: Pathetic Prey
Summary: 1 Stars

I have been a voracious reader of John Sandford's books and loved them all - until this one. I could not even force myself to finish it. The writing seemed uneven, he did not keep his facts straight, Davenport was not even a character I could root for. I finally gave up on reading the book less than half way through, not even caring to find out who the killer was. This book should have never been sent to the printer without major rework, or possibly should have been tucked under Sandord's bed and never seen the light of day. While I realize that writers may have stinkers on occasion, at the price of books today I will be spending a lot more time scrutinizing Sandford's next books before stepping up to spend my hard earned money.

Book Review: Phantom Prey not one of his best
Summary: 1 Stars

The Prey books have all been good. This one, however, sucks. It was so bad I couldn't be bothered to sort out all the names beginning with "A" in this book. Lucas came off as a lazy jerk. I didn't find one character to like, and in fact I was hoping the killer would knock the whole works of them off. Zero stars.

Book Review: Poor editing ruins book
Summary: 3 Stars

John Sanford writes great books, attention to detail is usually a given. In his book Phantom Prey that is not the case. In the first half of his book he proves his main suspect could not of committed the murders of the Goths. The suspect was at home at the time of one the murders and answered his phone call there, yet it turns out this suspect was in the end the murderer, with no explantation given for being home at the time of one of the murders . Very disappointing.

Book Review: disapointed
Summary: 2 Stars

I was very disapointed in this book. Normally Sandford is an excellent writer, however this was not one of his best works. Had to check the front cover to make sure someone else had not helped write it. Very disjointed.
