Book Review: An Artistic Sociopath's Courage Summary: 4 Stars
Piecemeal June is a Crowleyan retelling of Ovid's wholesome tale Pygmalion. With an artistic sociopath's courage, Krall amplifies upon the Great Beastly undertones that only glint under the Latin's dactylic hexameters. He unsublimates them, dredges them up like intestines large and small, and drapes them in plain sight across the pages. Pacing his tale briskly in the best Bizarro fashion, Krall doesn't settle down and wait for natural putrefaction to take its course; he won't defer to disease, but delegates the deconstructive chore to crab-like demons with razor claws and horrifying genital configurations, and tells them it's a rush job.
Book Review: An Introduction to the World of Jordan Krall Summary: 5 Stars
The Jordan Krall library is a peculiar one. Each book, to date, contains a running theme of encroaching Lovecraft-esque nautical-themed perversity (preferably of the squid variety). That being said, each book is entirely its own entity. And perhaps the best introduction, as a whole, to the works of Jordan Krall 'Piecemeal June'. It isn't the epic Bizarro Western of 'Fistful of Feet', or the creeping neo-noir menace of 'Squid Pulp Blues', or the relentlessly insane 'King Scratch', but 'Piecemeal June' offers up a brief, squishy taste of the weirdly enjoyable flavor that is "Krall".
If you've considered reading Jordan's books but don't know where to start, this is it. Wholly weird, but not TOO off-putting. Perverse and disgusting, yes, but driven by a tremendous vision. Overall, if you've never read Jordan Krall, there are two things to do: First, re-examine your life. It hasn't been quite up to snuff. And second, pick up 'Piecemeal June'. Let it engulf you in its filthy squidy goodness. The longer you go without Krall, the more hollow your world becomes.

Book Review: Bizarro Fun Summary: 4 Stars
King Dallas: "Ask not what your body can do for you, ask what I can do with your body."
Piecemeal June is a fast-paced, hilarious and entertaining book by bizarro newcomer, Jordan Krall. It's an extremely well-written novella filled with realistic dialogue and also packed with sensual details that both stimulate as well as provoke the gag reflex - a few parts really grossed me out, and with me that is not easy to accomplish. I found the characters in the book to be highly likeable as well, despite a few of them committing some pretty disgusting acts. The only bad thing about the book is that it's quite thin - I wanted more - but at least I have his next book Squid Pulp Blues to look forward to.
One more thing: In the story, Krall mentions a fictional book called the Bizarronomicon, which I hope he eventually writes so that I can read it.
