Piercing the Darkness is a wonderful follow-up to This Present Darkness. This was suspenseful, well written and again, an eye-opener to the spiritual war going on around us and the absolute power of prayer. Whenever I see or hear of something 'bad' going on, I get this visual picture in my mind of a demon sitting on someone's shoulder harrassing them or worse, sticking their finger in their head, swirling it around and confusing them. This is not a gory book - it's an excellent read. My second favorite Peretti book (This present darkness is my first).Book Review: Great Follow Up

Frank Peretti's sequel to This Present Darkness is very well done. The story is gripping and entertaining and once more draws us in to the spirit world. As a Christian, it is difficult to read this book and not feel a need to deepen my walk with God. The story is sometimes a little too familiar, repeating the themes of the first novel, but overall it was a well written and inspiring story. It will not disappoint.Book Review: Great Sequel to TPD!!

If you loved This Present Darkness, you'll love this sequel, too. Sequels are hard to do well. If it's too much like the original, it seems like a tired rehashing -- been there, done that. If it's too different, those who enjoyed the first story may not have the same feeling about the follow-up. Peretti does a great job of avoiding both extremes. All the action and suspense of the first book are there. Some familiar characters return, but new characters and situations are introduced so the plot seems fresh without losing the "feel" of TPD. Fantastic novel focusing on the aspect of how prayer directly affects our lives through the unseen spiritual dimension. Angels and demons are constantly at battle for our minds and our souls. This novel looks at how the angels can only defeat the demons through the strength of our prayers and our faith in the Lord. I highly recommend reading it. It also ties in well with its predecessor novel This Present Darkness.Book Review: Imaginative!

I donate many books to the local library after I read them so I don't run out of room on my shelves. However, I have never parted with a Peretti book...they are too good!
