Book Reviews of Polgara the Sorceress (Malloreon (Paperback Random House))Book Review: What A Shame Summary: 2 StarsSince I first picked up Queen of Sorcery, I have been a huge fan of all things Eddings. After the mighty Belgarath the Sorcerer, I waited with baited breath, impatient to once more enter the fantastic world of the Belgariad and Mallorean that I have enjoyed so many times again and again. While not precisely a bad book, I felt that this story is a little on the weak and sloppy side, managing only to chew over the same ground, that was covered so excellantly in Belgarath. A bit of a disappointment but if you're a true Eddings fan it is worth reading for completeness.
Book Review: An average book by an author whose other works are better. Summary: 2 StarsI am a great fan of David Eddings and have read all his books over the last 10 years a number of times, but was somewhat dissappointed with this offerring. Essentially the same story that appears in the Belgariad and the Mallorian is written from the perspective of Polgara, with her slant on the events that take place. Compared to the earlier works this is a pale shadow and gives the reader very little new material. I found the book below par and thought that the author's earlier works were much more superior, although being a Die-Hard Eddings fan I stll had to read it twice (this should be taken into context; I have read Pawn of Profecy five times). The story line gave the impression that Polgara was much more all knowing than she appeared in the other works, also much more smug. David Eddings come back to us please get back to your usual high standards.
Book Review: Flogging a dead horse Summary: 2 StarsSorry, but this is just getting every penny out of something, as was the previous volume (Belgareth) and there is yet another one (Codex) which I just cant be bothered to read.
Book Review: Eddings has done it again. A brilliant book all round. Summary: 5 StarsThis book was not a disapointment. Like all the other works by Eddings, (Tamuli, Belgariad, Mallorean, etc) the book was full of energy and that special stuff that makes his works excellent. Not the best, but still a 5 star effort. Rock on Eddings!
Book Review: An interesting "catch-up" read, filling you in on the past Summary: 3 StarsPeople can say that they think this is bad, but having read the Belgariad and the Mallorean a few years before it was refreshing to have new books of the same material. A few things were made a lot clearer, things that you had wondered about previously now made sense. At the same time you do admittedly think, hmm, if they knew all this stuff how come it all took so long? But in general it was an enjoyable read.
