Book Reviews of Power of Now 2009 Wall CalendarBook Review: Good book but lacks an important ingredient Summary: 4 StarsThis book makes the vital point that all we have is now, but misses essential ingredients for self optimization. Tolle suggests we observe disturbing emotions/thoughts rather than engage in them. This is important, and Tolle expresses this well. What is essential, new and life-optimizing is what Dr. Rosalene Glickman explains in her book, Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self. She says we need to observe and embrace disturbing thoughts/emotions/situations and then optimize them. She offers simple roadmaps to optimize any thought/emotion/situation and shows us how to choose the best and put any issue to rest. This is like embracing a disturbed child, accepting their problems and helping them find their best solutions. It is more than what Tolle suggests, which is to watch the child being disturbed without getting emotionally involved.
Book Review: The best guide to living a happy life I have ever read Summary: 5 StarsI have read many books but this is the only one which shows you how to live a happy life and know it. I have spent so long dwelling on the past and planning and being anxious over the future that I have spent 30 years being unaware of the good things in the here and now. This book has made such an impact on me that it is the only book I wish to leave to guide my daughter when I am no longer here and she should lose her way in life. My heartfelt thanks to my sister Cyan who sent it to me because she had found it "profoundly helpful".
Book Review: Beautiful! Summary: 5 StarsEckhart Tolle speaks with one voice. Reading this book was one of the greatest gifts of my life. The truth is staggering simple. Give yourself that same gift.
Book Review: The Power of Now Summary: 5 StarsOne of the most important books I have ever read. I believe this says what so many of the philosophers and religious figures down the ages have probably tried to express but never found the right words to say. This book is about eliminating the illusion of time and concentrating on the moment. A very simple principal but one that is of profound importance to each person alive today that is searching for contentment, joy and peace of mind. Buy it, read it, live it. This book can change your life forever.
Book Review: Excellent Summary: 5 StarsThis book opens the eyes and it does it in a kind and caring way. One of the most important books I've read.
