Book Reviews of Power of the Witch: The Earth, the Moon, and the Magical Path to EnlightenmentBook Review: BRILL!! Summary: 5 StarsThis is a classic! Laurie Cabot's book is full of information you just don't see elsewhere. I have a vast library of books on witchcraft and magick but I must say that this one is in my top 5. It is full of practical advice and spells as well as some truly invaluable meditative exercises which I use frequently. Most of the spell ingredients are easy to get hold of (except one or two eg. Where on earth do you find hair from a live wolf in Wigan?!) There is also quite a good section of Laurie's own experiences as a witch in the States and some history of the craft thrown in for good measure. All interesting stuff. Suitable for beginners and those who know their athame from the their boline alike.
Book Review: Want to know what Witches do and how they do it - read this Summary: 5 StarsFrom sceptic to believer is the only way to describe how I felt when I finished this book. When I picked this book I didn't know what to think, curiousity more than anything else. Instead of evil hocus pocus the reader is shown a journey of self discovery, our place in the universe and the power we are given to give and receive in the name of the Divine. Truly enlightening.
Book Review: First Timer Summary: 5 StarsI accidently inherited this book from a friend I lived with at university, call it fate! It was the first book on the craft that I read and boy was it good. Laurie covers not only her own experiences but also those of other witches that she has had contact with. It told me all the things that I wanted to know at the right time. It also confirmed, and made sence of a lot of fellings I had as a child.Though I do agree with a nother readers views, Wolf Hair? Hmmm... Other than this it is a fantastic read. I am now a great deal further on with my studies of the craft and I still refer back to this book on a regular occurrence. My favourite bit is the Crystal countdown. If you are wondering whether or not to buy this book... Please do, if you like the craft (or are interested) you will enjoy this book. Good Luke Love light and Peace Jule
Book Review: Unbalanced book Summary: 1 StarsThis is a terrible book.Although I am a Wicca, I find it very uncomfortable the way the author twists history to portray men and Christianity as the cause of all ills. It seems to be trying to replace the close mindedness of fundamental Christianity with the close mindedness of fundamental Wicca, and seems to leave no place for mystery. The author also seems to portray loose ideas of science in a way that seems awkward.
Book Review: the best thing i ever did! Summary: 5 Starsgrowing up i practised magic, but this was the first book on witchcraft i ever bought for myself. what a book! it helped me so much as a learning witch and i have often lent it to friends since so they could further understand witchcraft for themselves.this is probably not the most comprehensive book in the world - often you find with wiccan books that they are somewhat closed minded, but it is so well written and laurie is brilliant. buy this book......its a treasure and a bargain!
